Cala Kumquat Spirits

After having spent most of his career in the spirits sector, notably at Bruggeman Distillers and Distillerie de Biercée, Thierry Verhoeven set up his own company, Cala Kumquat Spirits, in 2019. His idea: to launch the first Belgian artisanal gin based on kumquats (the smallest of the citrus fruits), grown organically in Andalusia by a Belgian friend, Françoise Heidebroek. This is where the adventure began!


Cala Kumquat Gin

Cala Kumquat Gin is made from various distillates of fresh berries, plants and fruits: juniper berries, cloves, organic kumquats, untreated lemons and oranges, cocoa from the Ivory Coast, dried hop cones, malted barley kernels... All these ingredients are distilled individually in the copper stills of the Distillerie de Biercée. The "recipe" is signed by Pierre Gérard, ex-master distiller of Biercée.
