Château Bon Baron
A spirit of perseverance: that’s probably what best characterises Jeanette van der Steen and her husband, Piotr, who planted their first vines in 2003 for private use and today own over 17 hectares, 15 of which are in a single block on the banks of the Meuse river. These two economists, who came from the Netherlands to live in the countryside in Wallonia, have built up one of the most renowned vineyards in Belgium.
In our view, this is one of the most interesting white wines from the Château Bon Baron.
The grapes come from the Divo Nanto plot on the banks of the Meuse, where the soil consists of limestone and sandstone. The yield is limited to a maximum of 40 hl/ha, if necessary with green harvesting in August. Some years, this Pinot Blanc undergoes partial malolactic fermentation and is matured on lees for about six months.
Perfectly clear pale yellow robe.
Highly aromatic nose dominated by fruit, with some floral notes.
Voluptuous in the mouth, pleasant finish.
Perfect with mussels or white meat prepared with exotic flavours.
