A hobby that has become a success story: when Guy Pirlot set out in the mid-1980s to produce his 'blonde', he probably didn't imagine the craze that it would generate in the Kempen and far beyond. In 2017, driven by a complementary passion - whisky - he added a small distillery to his brewery in Zandhoven, from which the first peated whisky in Belgium would emerge: Single Malt Kempisch Vuur (or "Kempisch fire"). To produce his whiskies, Guy Pirlot uses the wort of his own beers and opts for a long fermentation, at a temperature of between 20 and 24 °C.
