Domaine du Poujol
Set about twenty kilometres from Montpellier, the Poujol vineyard was bought in 2016 by Brussels real-estate developer Eddy Hartung from an enthusiastic British couple, Kim and Robert Cripps. His son Laurent runs the vineyard: ten hectares of vines in production (with nine grape varieties), surrounded by 47 hectares of forests and scrubland - the landscape is breath-taking! The Hartung family has embarked upon the process of converting to organic while maintaining the biodynamic practices applied by the former owners.
Le Haut Poujol (red)
Hand harvested. Traditional vinification and ageing for 24 months (12 in oak barrels and 12 in bottle before marketing).
Garnet colour with cherry red highlights.
Greedy nose, with aromas of garrigue and black fruits. A touch of mint.
Generous and tense on the palate, with good length and supple tannins.
Red meat with sauce or game. Although a small piece of dark chocolate in front of a log fire could appeal to us even more...
16-17 °C
