Château Bon Baron

A spirit of perseverance: that’s probably what best characterizes Jeanette van der Steen and her husband, Piotr, who planted their first vines in 2003 for private use and today own over 17 hectares, 15 of which are in a single block on the banks of the Meuse river. These two economists, who came from the Netherlands to live in the countryside in Wallonia, have built up one of the most renowned vineyards in Belgium.

La Grande "Trésor"

This very original red wine is a blend of Garanoir and Gamaret grapes, two “brother”varieties originating in Switzerland and resulting from crossings between the Gamay and the Reichensteiner grape variety(white). Fairly early and resistant to diseases, they produce fruity, relatively light wines. The Château Bon Baron vineyard planted these two varieties in 2011. La Grande "Trésor" was aged in oak barrels for two years.

For the curious: Popsss also offers a Gamaret made at Château de Durette in the Beaujolais region!

Ruby colour, a little more intense than that of a Pinot Noir.

Nose dominated by red fruits, with spicy notes.

Supple and unctuous in the mouth, with silky and balanced tannins.

Ideal partner of an Italian dish or grilled meat.

   16-17 °C
