Aldeneyck

The estate of Karel Henckens and his wife Tine is one of the most famous in Flanders. It takes its name from the village of the same name, not far from Maaseik. The plots of vines, with a total surface area of 10 hectares, stretch along the river Meuse. The stony and rocky soils are particularly rich in minerals and leave their mark on the wines. From the outset, the couple favoured the Pinot range, adding Chardonnay (quite common in Flanders) and, a rarer choice, Riesling. Karel Henckens is one of the driving forces behind Europe's only cross-border appellation, the Maasvallei Limburg PDO.

Pinot Noir

Aldeneyck's Pinot Noir is vinified as late as possible for a beautiful aromatic expression. From vintage to vintage, it is simply superb!

Cold maceration for five days, fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats for three weeks, ageing in oak barrels for ten months (1/3 new).

   Ruby-coloured robe of medium intensity.

Nose with cherries and small red fruits. Allow the wine to breathe so as to release the aromas.

Full-bodied in the mouth with hints of small black fruits (blackberry, blackcurrant), coffee and white tobacco.

A piece of red meat or poultry in sauce.

   16-17°C.
