Château de Durette
Jean Joly from Liège (Wallonia) fell in love with the Beaujolais region. The story goes that he took his young wife to Saint-Amour for their honeymoon in 1964 and was carried away by this land, often unjustly disparaged. In 2007, he bought a vineyard in the village of Régnié-Durette, which he renamed Château de Durette. The originality of his plan is that in a sort of cooperative spirit, good friends acquired plots of vines of different Bordeaux vintages and signed tenant farming contracts with the Château de Durette, which thus has a vineyard covering 30 hectares. They include another native of Liège, Marc Theissen, who is in charge of the day-to-day management and marketing of the estate’s wines. When Jean Joly passed away in 2014, the vineyard remained within the family. It adopts a reasoned agriculture approach.
Côte de Brouilly "Les Fournelles"
The vines are perched on the slopes of the old Mont Brouilly volcano, on andesite granite soil. Yield of 35 hl/ha. Harvest: manual. Traditional vinification in cement tanks (10 days), matured in tanks
Relatively intense purple robe.
The nose is dominated by blueberries and wild strawberries.
Plump in the mouth, fruity and spicy.
