Verget du Sud
Verget du Sud is a wine business established by the Belgian Jean-Marie Guffens when he purchased the Château des Tourettes in the Lubéron. As he did in Burgundy with the Maison Verget, the winemaker concluded agreements with farmers he has known for many years and whose work on the ground he follows closely, from planting new vines to harvesting the grapes. He takes care of the vinification and the maturing himself.
Au fil du temps
This quaffable wine, which is not vintage, is made using the ‘solera’ maturing method found in particular in Andalusia. The barrels are stacked on several levels, with the lower level (known as the "solera") containing the oldest and the upper level the youngest wines. The wine to be bottled is taken from the solera level and is replaced by an equivalent quantity of wine from the row above, and so on. The process is repeated each time the wine is decanted. This technique "smooths out" the quality of the wine as well as adding depth. The result: a wine that offers excellent value for money!
Vivid ruby-coloured robe.
Young and fruity on the nose, dominated by cherry. Peppery notes in counterpoint.
Supple and generous in the mouth. The expression of the fruit is... sunny. Fine thickness and volume, with a hint of spices at the finish.
Lamb cutlets with mixed herbs, served with an abundance of southern vegetables.
